WHEN THE MATHEW’S FAIR OPENS, SPRING BEGINS

Matthew’s Fair is a traditional and very popular fair with its origin going back to the 16th century. This biggest fairground in Prague offers more than one hundred fun attractions and crazy rides, traditional Czech food, candies, and drinks. It opens on the 24th at Holesovice and lasts until the middle of April.

CELEBRATE HUMAN JOY AT PRAGUE MARDI GRAS

Prague Mardi Gras called Masopust also celebrates the beginning of spring. It is a popular Czech carnival bringing colorfully dressed people, a loud music parade and so much fun to the Lesser Town on the 10th. After the parade, you can enjoy a big party at Kampa Island. If you are still in a celebratory mood, you are more than welcome to end your day with one of the best cocktails at our stylish Alcron Bar and start your new day with a perfect cup of freshly brewed coffee at our Elias Coffee Shop.

O2 Universum calls all fans of house and techno music for a giant indoor party called Hardmission Festival on the 2nd and Techmission Festival on the 3rd. Cirkopolis is a name for another fun event where you can admire the physical performance combined with modern dance and theatre features. This special event of contemporary circus takes place at Palac Akropolis from the 11th until the 17th. On the 17th you have a unique chance to taste the most traditional Czech pork specialties such as goulash, ribs, or pork knee at the open-air festival at Naplavka which is located within 15 minutes by an easy walk from our centrally located Almanac X Alcron.

TIPS FOR MUSIC EVENTS

Those who like Harry Potter and the music of John Williams will surely enjoy the concert performed by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra at the O2 Universum on the 10th. On the 16th there is a special concert called Music from Movies in the stunning Smetana Hall at Municipal House and as usual, every week there are several classical concerts played by the Prague Symphony Orchestra. Depeche Mode returns to Prague and you can look forward to their concerts from the 22nd until the 24th at O2 Arena. Lastly, do not miss Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells 50th-anniversary concert which is performed at the O2 Universum on the 28th.
